Barney Ellaga

Barney’s primary Dreaming is Sugar-bag or Native Bees, which traveled across Alawa Country. This Dreaming concerns the wild honeybee that traveled from northern Arnhem Land down the Cox River and the Arnold River, creating features in the landscape.

The wild honey found in the hollows of trees is highly sought after by aboriginal people for it sweet taste and its powerful medicinal properties. “Sugar Bag is wild honey.
